Former Orlando Magic and Dallas Mavericks Shooting Guard Retires After 15 Seasons

JJ Redick, a 6-4, 190-pound shooting guard who played 15 seasons in the NBA, has announced his retirement. Redick was drafted 11th overall by the Orlando Magic in the 2006 NBA Draft and played for the Magic, Milwaukee Bucks, Los Angeles Clippers, Philadelphia 76ers, New Orleans Pelicans, and Dallas Mavericks during his career.

Redick was a three-time All-Star and was named to the All-NBA Second Team in 2014. He finished his career with averages of 12.8 points, 2.3 rebounds, and 2.5 assists per game. Redick was also a career 44.4% shooter from three-point range.

Redick's best season came in 2013-14 with the Clippers, when he averaged 16.4 points, 2.2 rebounds, and 4.5 assists per game. He helped the Clippers reach the Western Conference semifinals that season.

Redick announced his retirement on his podcast, "The Old Man and the Three," on August 20, 2023. He said that he was "at peace" with his decision to retire and that he was looking forward to the next chapter in his life.
